Siberian larch timber in use

In the past there were forests with larch in many European regions, such as Western Europe and European part of Russia. Larch was growing in Poland, on Balkans, in Austrian Alps, Switzerland, and Finland. In Russia it was prohibited to export larch timber during USSR period without permission and further used it for private purposes. Larch was at the list of strategic Russian reserves. Later this restriction was abolished. That is why nowadays in Western Europe larch occurs only as an admixture to other breeds, but in Russian Siberia it survived in large quantities.
In England, larch is widely used in shipbuilding. According to experts, larch is very resistant to hold water. That is why larch is preferred in shipbuilding.
Larch cladding is also widely used on the deck and in other wood construction of fishing boats. Larch timber is widely used in modern architecture.
